Plot:
Director E J-yong signs on to direct a short advertorial film and becomes taken with the whimsical notion of directing the film not from on set, but from an off-site location using Web-based technology. E writes this very idea into his short film, a story about a director who attempts to "remote direct" his film set in order to go on a date. E then rounds up an impressive star-studded cast, but secretly flies out to Hollywood, Los Angeles in order to put his plan to action. On the morning of the first day of shoot, E J-yong greets his cast and crew through a monitor. Without the director on set, the film goes spiraling into chaos.

Quickie Review

PROS
E.J Yong takes the premise of the film industry and, again, wring a LOT of meta-humour out of it, while never stretching the limit of the joke (the film is fortunately 84 minutes)
The cast, crew and cameos are all enjoyable to watch and spot (especially if you're familiar with Korean cinema; it's been a while I've seen Kim Ok-vin this cute since Dasepo Naughty Girls)
Alongside the meta-humour of celebrities (is Youn Yuh-jung's story about The Taste of Money really true?), it's a wonderful satire about the process of filmmaking itself (does a director really need to be present, given today's technology?)
More breezy and lighthearted than E.J Yong's previous mockumentary, Actresses (for those who didn't like the mean-spiritedness)

CONS
The film can be too esoteric for mainstream audiences
More of an experimental exercise than actual narrative

SCORE: 8/10 (Those who enjoyed E.J Yong's previous mockumentary, Actresses, will enjoy Behind the Camera just as much.)

Synopsis
