Synopsis
Kubota Shu, who runs a temporary employment agency, is clubbed to death with a bat. A metal bat believed to be the murder weapon as well as something that looks like an old toy are found at the crime scene. Takakura Kiichiro (Osugi Ren), the commissioner of the Kyoto Prefectural Police, orders Takuma Yoshito (Kusanagi Tsuyoshi) to go to the crime scene. Takuma and the other members of the Special Investigation Unit begin the investigation. They learn that the old toy is part of a set of seven “Protect Kyoto” character figurines of different occupations which were made while Takuma was in the Kyoto Prefectural Police’s Public Relations Division some 10 years ago. This time, the toy placed at the crime scene stands for public prosecutor. Oddly, Kubota was a former senior prosecutor of the Kyoto Public Prosecutors’ Office. Takuma says this is a case that he must solve and tells his regular partner, Anegakoji Chinami (Minami Kaho), that he is dissolving their partnership. He starts to investigate on his own and discovers that a “Protect Kyoto” character figurine wearing a police uniform was left at the scene of the murder of Chinami’s husband, Takehiko, who had been a police officer. There is a ring of truth to what the prisoner, Sagami Wakahiro (Kamikawa Takaya), had previously talked about. “The case of Anegakoji-san’s husband 12 years ago and your wrongful conviction are connected.” Suspicious of Takuma’s actions, Chinami presses him for an explanation, and gets the truth out of him. Takuma does not want to get her involved because he does not know what danger lies ahead. But she gets the upper hand and begins to investigate the case 12 years ago with Matsubara Yuiko (Ashina Sei), Horikawa Kohei (Hiraoka Yuta) and the rest of the Special Investigation Unit. They identify several cases where the character figurines were left behind at the crime scenes. What is the association between the figurines which Takuma made and these cases? As Takuma and the members get to the bottom of the matter, they come to the least expected person. In addition, the shocking truth regarding Takuma’s conviction is revealed

Synopsis
Inspector Umizuki Chinami (Takei Emi) is a career elite and yet treated as a burden. It has been one year since she was assigned to the Eighteenth Section of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division as a rookie detective. A transfer order is waiting for her in the new year. Unaware of this, Chinami goes with Shitara Kyosuke (TAKAHIRO) to escort Sugimoto (Sumida Takashi), a criminal in a robbery that resulted in injuries, from Macau. However, the moment Sugimoto arrives at the airport in Japan, he is shot and killed by someone. While checking Sugimoto’s background, Chinami meets an elementary school student, Yuta (Kimino Yuma), who claims that his father has been kidnapped. His mother (Horiuchi Keiko) says it is a lie. But this weighs on Chinami’s mind. Before long, she finds out the source of the gun that was used to shoot Sugimoto. This brings her to Kanto Natsume-kai. For some reason, Yuta’s mother is there. She learns that Yuta’s father, Akiba (Hakamada Yoshihiko), a skilled workman, was abducted by Kanto Natsume-kai and made to be a dealer at an illegal casino. Sugimoto had run up debt of 20 million yen at this casino. They finally establish a link to the case and think that the case can be solved. But it is not that simple. The illegal casino has been taking place at the embassy which Japanese police cannot enter because of diplomatic immunity. Chinami has until April to solve the case. The members of the Eighteenth Section, who have quickly learnt about Chinami’s transfer, work hard in an attempt to send her off without bringing dishonour to her name, but they have just one month … …

Synopsis
Kobayashi Suzu (Ono Machiko), who lives alone in Tokyo, has a doctorate in insect taxonomy. Insects are the great love of her life. One day, she is suddenly laid off by the university she has been working for because of her narrow field of research and obstinate personality. That night, Suzu is reunited with a former boyfriend, Ando Takeshi (Tanaka Kei), at the cafe that her biological father, Nakamura Tamotsu (Denden), runs. She and her father are not in the same family register for some reason. Suzu gets dead drunk and Takeshi sends her home. The two of them end up spending the night together. About five weeks later, Suzu discovers she is pregnant. Learning from a book about the legend that a human being will replicate some 300 million years of biological evolution during the nine months as a fetus, makes Suzu determined to give birth to her child. However, she is not able to broach the topic to Takeshi. The job she has finally secured does not work out as she thought too. While she sulks in disgruntlement for successive days, her mother Fumiko (Lily) comes to Tokyo from their hometown. Suzu’s pregnancy is exposed and she is berated. However, her desire to raise the child on her own does not change despite her mother’s vehement opposition. Her hidden past has something to do with her stubbornness.

Synopsis
Yanagida Kiriko (Horikita Maki) works at a food processing factory in Kita Kyushu as she lives a modest life with her intellectually disabled younger brother, Masao (Furuhata Niino). When work at the factory ends, she declines invitations from her colleagues, and waits for half-price at the supermarket so that she can buy Masao’s favourite squid rings. Then she heads straight home where her brother is waiting. Masao stuffs squid rings into his mouth with child-like delight as Kiriko fondly gazes at his smile. The next day, Masao is overjoyed to get his salary. On the way home, Kikue who is seeing off a young man from a house nearby, spots Masao counting the notes inside an envelope. She has an uncomfortable smile on her face when she jams 10,000 yen into his pay packet and asks if he can keep quiet about this. His hand is taken by Kikue and placed on her chest. A shaken Masao is left speechless. Hearing that he had accepted 10,000 yen from Kikue, Kiriko admonishes him. He is not supposed to take money from other people for no reason. Kiriko is about to go and return it, but Masao says he will go alone tomorrow. The next day, Masao visits Kikue’s home. His heart unexpectedly races as he recalls her behaviour yesterday. However, Kikue has been murdered by someone and Masao is detained as a suspect. Getting word of this, Kiriko desperately asserts, “My brother is different from an ordinary person!” But the police officers do not listen to her. On the other hand, Masao trembles in the interrogation and is not able to give an answer. If this goes on, he could end up becoming the murderer. A fretful Kiriko is reminded of the activities of the famous lawyer Otsuka Kinzo (Shiina Kippei) whom she had seen in the news and goes to Tokyo on her own. She pounds on the door of Otsuka’s law firm. Otsuka, who has been extremely busy, is exhausted. He has cleared a big court case and is going on a holiday with his lover, Kouno Michiko (Kimura Yoshino). That is when Kiriko comes to visit. “Can you help my brother? Please!” Otsuka seems moved by Kiriko’s emotional appeal, but Michiko has already come to get him. When he snubs Kiriko, telling her that his fees will go up in price even for cases in faraway places. She concludes, “I see, so you won’t help the poor” and leaves. Bile rises up in Otsuka … … Returning home Kiriko scrambles about for Masao’s sake, but he is sentenced to life in prison at the trial. Even so, Kiriko tries to save him. However, her brother dies of heat stroke while in prison. The abysmal conditions of the cell resulted in his death. Kiriko does not even shed tears in front of Masao’s dead body. She feels an emotion seething within her and vows revenge on Otsuka

Synopsis
Resembling the famous Silk Road, the Ancient Tea Road located in southwestern China was an important gateway for transportation and communication between ancient China and West Asia. It was a giant platform for the political economic social and cultural intersection of different ethnic groups and a gigantic lifeline stretching on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Tea Horse Road' or 'Tea Horse Path', was a central trade route for exchanging Tibetan horses and Chinese tea. The corridor came to play a crucial role in the communication and exchange between the cultures of present-day Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet, with the route passing through, among a number of important posts, the volcanic ranges of Tengchong, the colourful culture and dwellings of the Khamba people in Changdu, the breathtaking gorges of Lijiang, through Tibet as far as Burma and India.
