SYNOPSIS:
EN:Set during the reign of King Sukjong in the Joseon dynasty, the story focuses on Dong Yi, a water maid who gains the trust of Queen Inhyeon and later the favour of the king when he is moved by her prayers for the health of the Queen during the court disputes caused by Jang Hee Bin. Dong Yi becomes a concubine with the rank of sook-bin and bears a son who will later become the 21st king of Joseon, Yeongjo.

Pornind dupa un scenariu semnat de Kim Yi Young, (Furtuna la palat), serialul promite sa ne retina atentia pe parcursul celor 50 de episoade, avand printre protagonisti, pe indragitul actor Jijin Hee (Giuvaerul palatului), acum in rolul regelui Sukjung.
Povestea:
…urmareste firul vietii doamnei Choi, care avea sa devina mama celui de-al 21-lea rege al dinastiei Chosun, regele Youngjo (bunicul lui Yi San). Aceasta a fost una din sotiile lui Sukjong, al 19-lea rege al dinastiei Chosun, iar serialul ne poarta in istorie, intre anii 1683 si 1724, pentru a afla povestea dramatica a vietii sale si a fiului sau, printul Youngjo.
Dupa ce tatal si fratele ei sunt executati, ea ramane orfana si se ascunde de politia statului in Academia de muzica (Jangakwon). In cele din urma, prin istetimea sa, ajunge sa lucreze la palat, unde este remarcata de regele Sukjong…
In timpul domniei regelui Sukjong se intampla, pentru prima data in istoria dinastiei, ca cineva provenind din randurile sclavilor sa ajunga in cel mai inalt nivel ierarhic, intr-o societate in care puterea era disputata intre deja factiunile Namin si Seoin.(cunoscute si din Furtuna la palat). Aceasta este doamna Choi, care, dand dovada de intelepciune si curaj reuseste sa supravietuiasca, impreuna cu fiul sau, Yeonangkun, pe care il educa pentru a putea deveni rege.
