Synopsis
Yu is a high school boy who lives with his father who became a priest after Yu's mother died. But one day, a woman, Kaori, falls for Yu's father although she knows that he is a priest. Yu is completely against this because he does not like Kaori's eccentric presence intruding into the father and son's peaceful life, and even more because she brings with her Yoko, the girl he fell in love with at first sight. He does not want the girl of his dreams to become a step-sister! One day, religious cult member Koike finds this so-called family an interesting group and kidnaps three of its members, leaving Yu behind on purpose hoping he will join the cult soon. He will not fall for Koike's tricks, but instead will do anything to save the love of his life, Yoko, from this cult.
Review snippets
"Complicated and long but deftly handled adventure/caper/satire that ends up being thoroughly entertaining."
-- Philip De Semlyen, Empire Magazine
"A swooning, often riotously funny melodrama charged with a refreshingly perverse undertow."
-- David Jenkins, Time Out
"Deeply strange and politically incorrect, baffling, and often funny."
-- Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian [UK]
"Audacious, emotionally engaging and laugh-out-loud funny, Love Exposure is one of the best films of the year, thanks to Sono Sion's masterful direction, a superb script and a trio of terrific performances."

(Rated 91% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.)

Encoder comment
A very clean, compressible source meant that this encode required no corrective filtering. Even at RF 17.5, the encode looked quite close to the source and used very little bitrate to boot. Since the movie is 4 hours long, the final file size is still substantial. As usual, I used an up-to-date version of x264 with high-quality settings.
If there's demand for it, I can encode the extras as well, which take up a whole DVD. They contain a few rather interesting scenes. Just leave a comment asking for the extras. If I encode them I'll upload them as a separate torrent.
Playback on PCs with MPC-HC from the CCCP codec pack is recommended. For Macs, use the very capable MPlayer OSX Extended.
If you're new to encoding and would like to try it, check out my simple DVD-to-x264 encoding guide in the forums.
