Since this was a major internet-released film in Korea (it supposedly had over 1 Million views within weeks of its release), I just thought it had to be on here, even though members will lament the lack of subtitles. (afaik there have never been any subs for this short)
There’s some information on this title available, for non-Korean-speakers I’d recommend ‘Ryoo Seung-wan’ by Kim Young-jin as part of KOFIC’s Korean Film Directors Series (especially the interview part) available in bookstores and via yesasia as a starting point. (That’s where I took the synopsis from.)
I know that IMDb (currently) lists that title as released in 1998, but that’s plain wrong. It was shot after ‘Die Bad’ in the Summer of 2000 and released online in 12/2000 - 01/2001.
Ripped, cropped (from letterbox to anamorphic widescreen) and re-encoded it myself with k9c.
The quality isn’t the best, but neither is the source’s, which seems to be taken from the VHS release. The original release website is long down and current available versions I could find are of inferior quality.
Personally, I enjoyed watching this more than the 2008 feature film version, even though due to my limited knowledge of the language (due to laziness) and 70’s Korean action films (due to availability issues) I most likely missed many of the references and jokes.
