Plot or synopsis
Aired in Korea in 2009, the KBS espionage action thriller IRIS headlined by Lee Byung Hun was one of Asia's biggest and most anticipated television hits of the year. The meaty, all-star blockbuster about secret agents caught in a dangerous game of love, betrayal, and national security provided so many possible stories and twists, it's turned into a franchise with a spin-off, an upcoming sequel, and a film. Developed in parallel with the original TV drama, IRIS: The Movie is a feature-length edit of the 20-episode series, with additional scenes shot specifically for the film. Some unanswered questions from the TV drama are revealed in the movie.
Lee Byung Hun and Jung Jun Ho (My Boss, My Hero) star as best friends Hyun Joon and Sa Woo who are recruited together into the national security agency, but the way of the world sends the friends down different paths. Targeting a secret organization interfering with reunification, Hyun Joon finds himself up against a shocking conspiracy that sends him on a collision course with the very people he trusted most. Kim Tae Hee and Kim Seung Woo co-star as NSS agents, while Kim So Yeon and Big Bang's T.O.P play assassins. (YesAsia)
