Synopsis:
There is an old folk tale that goes "do not play hide-and-seek at night, or else the demons will get you."
The film is based around "Otokoyo", a game of hide and seek played by children near the ruins of an abandoned old city. The children who play this disappear, believed to be spirited away by demons. Kakurenbo follows Hikora, a boy who joins the game with hopes of finding his missing sister, Sorincha. Along the way, Hikora meets other kids who are lured by the seductive promise of mystery and innocent adventure. However, as the game continues, the children find out at their own peril why no one ever comes back from this twisted game of kakurenbo..
