Synopsis
Screened at various film festivals, the aptly titled Nice Shorts consists of four short films from up and coming directors. A simple walk means so much more in the touching short "Shall We Take a Walk?" directed by Kim Ye Yeong and Kim Yeong Geun. Directed by Hong Sung Hoon, "Girl" tells of a father's strange day when his son's girlfriend shows up, and Lee Jeong Wook's "Mates" goes undercover into memories and crime solving. Winner of Best Korean Short at the 2009 Jeonju Film Festival and the Excellence Award at the Seoul Independent Film Festival, Jo Sung Hee's "Don't Step Out of the House" is about two young children who live in a rundown apartment by themselves, and what happens when adults invade their space.
1. Shall We Take a Walk?
Young-gwang, who is blind, makes a 3D map of a path for his sister who is in the hospital. Young-gwang and his sister follow the map together and go on a virtual walk down memory lane as they walk down the path where they planted a tree with their father and pass by the small stationery store outside the school...
2. Girl
One day, a girl who claims to be the girlfriend of the son comes to the father's home. She is carrying the child of his son who is in the army and demands that he accompany her to the clinic and pay for the procedure. The man puts her in his car and they head for the clinic...
3. Don't Step Out of the House
A brother and sister are locked up in a basement apartment without their parents when some sinister looking strangers come to their home. They had said that they only needed a glass of water at first, but as time passes they move around the household as if it were theirs and start threatening the brother and sister...
4. Mates
Detective HA Tae-joo is on a stakeout as a pupa seller with his colleagues in his childhood neighborhood in order to catch a criminal. At a crucial time when he is trying to catch a criminal, old friends and rivals that he had long forgotten from the past appear before him one by one...
