Set sometime in the future. Five years has passed since the Shibuya riots. There are now several tribes that exits in Tokyo. Boys makeup tribes and they occupy areas under their influence. Kai Deguchi is a member of the tribe Musashino Saru led by Tera.

One day, a member of Musashino Saru is killed by rival tribe Bukuro Wu-RONZ led by Mera. Kai and Mera are former best friends, but not anymore. Meanwhile, Tera, the leader of Musashino Saru and a moderate who forbids using violence, is killed by Mera from Bukuro Wu-RONZ.

Musashino Saru is now divided by two sides: one advocates following their slain leader's non-violence idealogy and the other side who wants to use violence to exact revenge. A riot soon ensues among the tribes.

Synopsis: Two brothers compete for the amorous favors of a young woman during a seaside summer of gambling, boating, and drinking, in this seminal Sun Tribe (taiyozoku) film from director Kô Nakahira. Adapted from the controversial novel by Shintarô Ishihara, and critically savaged for its lurid portrayal of the postwar sexual revolution among Japan's young and privileged, Crazed Fruit is an anarchic outcry against tradition and the older generation.

Uploader's Comments: This started the Sun Tribe craze in the Japanese film industry, which later paved the way for new wave directors like Oshima, Masumura and Yoshida. I quite like this one, even if it far from rivals many of the films by the aforementioned.

Also includes an English commentary track with Japanese-film scholar Donald Richie. The track is, as usual, very informative and interesting if you're into these kinds of films.

Plot

In the past, Kyoka (Naomi Watanabe) was an excellent employee at travel agency Sunset Tours. She was called the "legendary travel master," but a conflict with her boss led to her transfer to a free department.
Now, Kyoka works at a branch office for Sunset Tours in Kyoto. She teams up with rookie employee Ichiro (Yusuke Yamamoto) and divorced taxi driver Tetsuo (Susumu Terajima). Tetsuo is familiar with the roads in Kyoto.
