Sanjuro, a wandering samurai enters a rural town in nineteenth century Japan. After learning from the innkeeper that the town is divided between two gangsters, he plays one side off against the other. His efforts are complicated by the arrival of the wily Unosuke, the son of one of the gangsters, who owns a revolver. Unosuke has Sanjuro beaten after he reunites an abducted woman with her husband and son, then massacres his father's opponents. During the slaughter, the samurai escapes with the help of the innkeeper; but while recuperating at a nearby temple, he learns of innkeeper's abduction by Unosuke, and returns to the town to confront him.

Synopsis

Plot

Due to a road rage between two buses, an accident skewers three passengers into a single steel bar. But even before this unfortunate circumstance, these three have their share of ill-fated lives. July 1590, Odawara. Toyotomi Hideyoshi's army had surrounded the Odawara Castle for over 3 months, hoping to conquer this last obstacle to his dream of the country's unification. Standing at the gate of the castle, a lone man facing the menacing guards shouted out: "Do not throw your lives away. Treasure living!". Not long after, the castle gates opened and the reigning lord surrendered. The name of that man is Kuroda Kanbee. An excellent military strategist, he worked hand-in-hand with Hideyoshi to unify the country.
Kanbee's family had fled to Harima, and were relatively poor. As the protege of Kodera Masamoto, Kanbee was very much trusted and relied upon by his lord liege. Kanbee became the head of the Kuroda clan at 22 years of age. Masamoto was aging and he very much wanted someone to take over his responsibilities, and thus he decided to marry off his much-loved daughter, Teru, to Kanbee. They were blessed with a son, but since many years had passed and yet Teru couldn't seem to conceive a second child, Kanbee decided to adopt the young children of his vassals as his proteges who were known as "Kuroda's warriors".
When Kanbee turned 30, a revolutionary young lord was slowly laying siege to all the various shogunates, aiming for a unified Japan. Harima became the place where the clash between Oda and Mori Terumoto was set. Kanbee was very attracted to Oda's unification plans, and had gone to Gifu Castle to meet up with him. There, he became acquainted with Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and soon became Hideyoshi's right-hand man, marking the birth of Gunshi Kanbee.

At the end of the Edo period, Nagasaki was the only port open to trading with the Dutch. It was an unlawful town controlled by powerful interests and extreme violence. There arose a group of arbiters who would punish by their own justice those who couldn't be punished by the law. People called them the Dark Magistrates.

Synopsis:

Koyurugi Sota, who attends a confectionary school, fell in love at first sight with his senior Takahashi Saeko during high school days. They started dating right before Christmas after a lot of effort. However, Saeko says she cannot meet Sota on Valentine’s Day which they should be commemorating together. Sota has no choice but to see her on the eve of Valentine’s Day. He tries to hand the chocolates he made for her with all his heart, knowing that she loves them. But Saeko refuses to accept. She even tells him that she did not mean to date him. However, the single-minded Sota is not discouraged. He goes over to France alone and arrives at L’atelier de Bonnaire, the famous Parisian chocolatier. Although he comes from a confectionary school, he has no experience working at a chocolatier and also cannot speak French. Even so Sota entreats L’atelier de Bonnaire to let him work here. What has brought him to Paris is his love for Takahashi Saeko. Saeko loves the finest chocolates, especially Bonnaire’s. Sota wants to become a chocolatier and make her pay attention to him. Six years later in the autumn of 2013, Sota returns to Japan with Olivier Treluyer whom he met at Bonnaire and is busy with preparing for his shop’s opening. Then, Saeko shows up. She has learnt through TV that Sota is now famous as the “Chocolate Prince”. Sota acts cool despite a wildly beating heart from their reunion after six years. Olivier rejoices that there is progress because Saeko came. He lives together with Sota, Sota’s sister Matsuri and father Makoto, and is even friendly with the staff Inoue Kaoruko. At the same moment, the chocolatier Rikudo Seinosuke is looking at a magazine in which Sota is featured. The model Kato Erena is to his side.
